Link, Link, Whos' got the Link?

For the last several days we have have been talking about e-mail
marketing. If you want to be successful in your work at home
business, you must master at least two of the options we
discussed. Again, more is better!

Today we will get into another type of marketing that the work
at home netrepreneur must become familiar with and ultimately
master. Just keep in mind, most of the "Gurus'" out there
today took years to get where they are. Some of these techniques
seem very simple and easy to use. In a few cases that is true,
however, to become truly proficient at any of these will take
time, dedication and the willingness to accept mistakes, learn
from them and go on!

Lets look at a couple of differences in the two techniques first:
Email marketing is geared for HUMAN EYES, while Link Marketing
targets the SEARCH ENGINES. Many studies show upwards of 80% of
all Internet sales and sign ups come as a result of a key word
search. Our goal is to hit that first page of results when someone
makes a search.

With the millions of web sites on the net (and growing every minute)
how do we expect to gain a top 10 position? Well,Search Engines factor
three major elements into their ranking and rating of a website:

The first is Optimization:
Optimization includes thins like, Having a clear, keyword rich
description in place and a list of keyword relating to your site in
place. Articles and relevant content that is frequently changed
and/or updated.

Next is Popularity:
The Search Engines are constantly indexing websites. As they do,
they record any other website links they find on the page they are
indexing. They add them to their database and count the number of
times your site appears as a link on another page.

And finally Traffic:
Engines record how many visitors land on your site aka hits. An
effective way to generate hits is by placing your links on Traffic
Exchanges.

Once you have your website you must tell the engines that you exist!
You may remember the story I related about when I started my work
at home business. I won't bore you again, but the same principle
applies to the search engines! You must tell them where to look for
you. If you have control over your site, that is you own the domain
and add/change the content, there are many ways to OPTIMIZE your page
to attract the Engines to you!

If you are not in your control of your affiliate sites you cannot
OPTIMIZE the site yourself. Do not loose hope there are many ways
to get on the map with the engines.

Next time we will get into some of the details of link marketing
and the roll it plays in your work at home business.
