More about links
Please forgive the spelling issues! I really do know how to
spell role! Sorry about that.
The last time we talked a little about link marketing in
general and touched a little on getting the engines to know
that you are there. We said that if you are using an affiliate
site (one that you do not control) you will not be able to
optimize the site yourself.
Don't lose (not loose) hope! There are other ways for the work
at home business owner to get recognized.
One of the most popular ways to do that is through a submitter.
SUBMIT your site via a submitter to some Engines. There are some
When you auto submit your link make sure you use an email account
that you access frequently. You usually receive validation links
from many of the Engines you must respond to in order to validate
your submission. I would strongly recommend that you hand submit
or manually submit to the larger engines (google, Yahoo and MSN).
There are any number of submitters out there to chose from, some
are very simple to use, others are very complex. I suggest you
choose one that fits your knowledge and experience level. One thing
to keep in mind when submitting your work at home site to the
search engines, you must be patient! Indexing can take as little
as a week or as long as several months.
Be very careful when selecting a paid submitter, there are many
that will promise to get you crawled today or within a week. If
it sounds to good to be true,...
The next link marketing tool we will look at is the dreaded
Traffic Exchange. Yes, this is not only a valid tool, but
a very effective tool for the work at home business.
Traffic Exchanges are great ways to 'drive traffic' to your
sites for a number of reasons:
1. Most Exchanges offer free memberships (free is always good)
2. They are easy to use for all levels of experience
3. They send hits to your sites 24/7 even if you are not surfing.
Hits are generated as members surf the exchange and then YOUR
site appears on the surfbar. When you surf you do not see your
own site - you view other members sites. However, when you surf
you rotate sites so that the next in que is sent to the surfbar.
This means OTHER MEMBERS who surf will view your sites for you,
generating hits as the surf rotates.
WHY bother to MARKET ON EXCHANGES WITH THE SAME LINKS AS YOURS?
This is an excellent question! The answer is is really in two parts:
1. People need to see sites usually many times to respond.
You want yours in the mix people need to 'see' or 'hear' or 'read
about' sites between 5 - ... times before they respond. Sometimes
a site will push their buttons immediately and people will respond
in less time.
2. Whether or not PEOPLE (or Human Eyes) see your link - the Search
Engine ROBOT EYES do: Whether or not a person saw your site, the SE
did. Your link is entered into the traffic exchange database. Each
time it is brought up by the Exchange script and appears on the Surf
it is as though someone actually 'clicked' on your link. This is one
of the things which make exchanges so very powerfull!
There are many publications available on the subject of traffic
Exchanges. There are two that I can confidently recommend, one
written "by a surfer for surfers" and one written by an Exchange
owner, both give ecxellant views, strategies and tips for
maximizing your effectiveness on the exchanges. I strongly recommend
that you get your hands on these books before you start your
traffic exchange campaigns, here are the links to check out:
http://www.l1nk.com/tLf/Tony.html This is done by the Surfer.
http://www.l1nk.com/tLf/TERM.html This is done by the owner.
Next time we will look into some more ways that the work at home
netrepreneur can run with the big dogs on the internet.
Successfully,
George
